Gerry Cochrane
My 6 has been changed from PI to SU carbs at some point in its 43 year life. Tell me please how i tell which SU carbs I have? I believe that they didn't put identification marks on them. Would a photo or three help? Regards. GerryC

Don H.
Many of the SU carbs in TRs will have aluminum tags generally triangular in shape under the float bowl bolts. They'll be stamped with the carb number, as in AUC878F and AUC878R (front and rear) on my TR3B.
boxofbits
Hi Gerry The closest match I can see in my SU reference manual is the Triumph 2.5 TC which had HS6's, same as TR4a etc. The carb spec numbers are AUD678F and AUD678R and the standard needle is a BDB. As Don says the carbs should have an aluminium ID tag affixed to the float chamber screw. These Would be a near match for your TR6 but then might need some tuning with different needles/ jets, and correct linkage which you probably already have.
