AndyC 4A
Hi All, Just wondered if its me. Gearbox back in, but putting into 3rd gear the lever pushes the heater fan switch in. I am sure it shouldn't but what is in the wrong place? I welcome your thoughts. Andy
Geko
H frame console too far forward ? Is the top bracket fitted the right way ?
stillp
Too far back surely Stef? Pete
Geko
Well, it's like discussing with a Brit about who's driving on the wrong side of the road...
AndyC 4A
Thanks guys, the feet of the H frame locate ok with the floor and it looks upright, the top bracket vertical face is facing the cockpit so I assume thats the right way otherwise the frame would lean towards the engine bay...wouldn't it? Geko
try loosening the bracket bolts and push the console backwards (towards the engine that is). Space between the top of the H frame and the dash can be very tight, you may have to use some brute force to make it fit the right way.
swood1
While on heater fan switches, I bought one from Rimmers but it's a toggle switch, and doesnt match. I was after a push/pull switch. Is there a recommended replacement switch for the heater that suits the car? Does it need to be high amps? Regards Steve
Drewmotty
Do you have the correct shaped gear lever? A straight one from a widescreen car may be too tight.
ianc
To overcome this problem, which occurred when I fitted a new rubber gearstick gaiter, I fitted a rotary switch. Using the original knob, one would never know the difference. Ian Cornish
RogerH
Hi Steve, item 74 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr2-4a/heating-ventilation/heaters-vents-fittings/heating-tr4-4a.html Roger
dpb
On the heater switch - I have a green and a black cable. The black (earth I assume) is connected to a white cable via a bullet connector. This white cable is coming from above the fan somewhere, out of a black sheath. Another white cable also comes out of the same black sheath, but is not connected to anything. Anybody know what this is for? Dave ====
RogerH
Hi Dave, from the motor - one wire (white) goes to the switch then +12V (green). the other wire, which should be black but could be white, goes to earth. http://www.advanceautowire.com/tr24a.pdf Roger
swood1
Thanks Roger, I ordered one with a nice new knob. Steve
AlanT
Is it this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-SPB104-31434-PS7-push-pull-switch-2-position-Off-On-/231853410829?hash=item35fb8a4a0d:g:l8UAAOSwg3FUjaP0
swood1
Hi Alan, That's the one I got. Seems to fit nicely.
AlanT
I have handled quite a few of these Lucas "green-box" switches. They are close to original and seem much as an NOS part. Some of it is marked "Made in France".
