Long time since I had a drum braked TR2 (was 1963), but it looks vulnerable to me. Ian Cornish It is, and I think it looks worse than it actually is
Drewmotty
Mine is sandwiched between the bumper iron and chassis. It wasn’t quite long enough to use both of the existing bolts so I drilled an extra hole for a high tensile bolt.

Looking at the bumper iron on a TR3a, how beefy it is and how it is bolted to the frame I think my plan A will be a tow strap secured by a bolt into an existing hole (perhaps enlarged a bit) in the bumper iron. Given that the use will be a slow tow into the trailer I cant imagine that putting a lot of stress on that bumper iron.
Drewmotty
Be aware that the bumper iron is attached to the chassis with slotted holes and the front valance could be damaged if it slips.
TwinCamJohn
A bit late to the party, but this is my towing eye. P1000168 by john curtis, sur Flickr P1000170 by john curtis, sur Flickr P1000169 by john curtis, sur Flickr
Ian Vincent
As I had already removed my radiator shield preparatory to removing the engine, I spent a couple of hours modifying it a la I jonnson’s solution. Dead simple to do and more than enough for towing a TR. Rgds Ian
