That is an excellent solution Drew and it will be my plan B. Looking at the bumper iron on a TR3a, how beefy it is and how it is bolted to the frame I think my plan A will be a tow strap secured by a bolt into an existing hole (perhaps enlarged a bit) in the bumper iron. Given that the use will be a slow tow into the trailer I cant imagine that putting a lot of stress on that bumper iron.
