Richardtr3a
My boot lid has been mended many times and has so much lead that it is heavy to lift. The internal corners have been mended too often and there is now a raised bump on the surface. So looking for an answer, I have just bought a boot lid for my 3A and it does not have the correct raised hinge plinths. It is smooth and has no rust damage. The paint has been removed and the entire panel treated for rust.It will fit perfectly. Vivdownunder used to have a friend who was making plinths. He seems to have disappeared and I am now searching for a supplier in the UK. My paint shop will have to make their own unless I supply some. Does anyone have an answer? foster461
One option would be to build some plinths on the boot lid using lead. You can build it up oversize and then file it to the correct size and shape. Stan
Ian Vincent
Rather than build them up out of lead, I'd be inclined to make them out of brass strip and then solder them to the boot lid. Rgds Ian
stuart
I have done this conversion a few times in lead it works fine and is relatively straightforward to do. Stuart.
Fireman049
I used flat steel strip which I fettled to the right profile and then soldered them to the bonnet of my 3A ~ easy! Tom.

Tom Boyd
Same as Stuart, done it the same way several times. Top notch ???? Tom
Richardtr3a
I have asked my local body shop and he was not keen at all. I seem to have two options. Try it myself. Not successful 10 years ago. Book it in to Stuart in Cornwall and drive a long way, maybe twice. Take it up to Tom in Nottingham. What happened to our member in Australia, who was making them? Thanks Richard & H.
