Steve T
Is the rear floor now a non available part? I've searched high and low, but there's none to be found. I've even spoken to British Heritage but they say the tooling has " had it ". What is the 'normal' repair on this?
colin_c
Steve I have one from my old car - repairs on the panel were started but not completed. PM me your email address if interested and I'll drop you a couple of photos. Regards Colin
Steve T
Thanks Colin, PM sent. I'm amazed that such an important part isn't still available....I may have to consider making a press tool up as I could do with 2 now as I've managed to end up with 2 cars to restore now and seeing as they also fit the 4 & 5 it makes sense to make a few extra if I can. Steve T
Have decided to try to reproduce the rear floor as second hand/used ones seem to be as rare as new ones. Got the cad drawing almost done. Need to find some steel now and get machining. Edited February 9, 2018 by Steve T
stuart
If you could get that pressed out in 18 SWG (1.2mm) then Im sure Moss would like to hear from you. Problem I am finding with a lot of the new repro panels are they are being pressed in 20 SWG (1mm) and it is too thin and will warp all over the place when welding in and worst of all compromise the strength of the shell. Stuart.
Steve T
I've designed it for 1.2mm which is the original thickness. I did try Rimmers but they wanted a full assembly as per their catalogue and TRGB said they weren't interested as they never get asked for them. Bit weird. However, I'll hopefully press about 20 out and see how it goes. Edited February 2, 2016 by Steve T
RogerH
Hi Steve, I'm fascinated - how are you making the press tool. Roger

Peter Cobbold
Steve, The start-to-finish story would be a great article for TRAction. Peter
John Bracher
I have no idea what for/how I would actually use it, but I would love to have a beast of a plate like that!! I remember as an engineering apprentice being given such things to move around....... Heavy Metal!!
RogerH
Hi John, I know what you mean. I have a 24"x24"x2" plank of Delrin (nylon). I haven;t the heart to cut into it just yet. But, It's mine. Roger
Steve T
I'll keep a log ( with pics ) of how it goes.
Motorsport Mickey
Steve, Putting my Toolroom engineer brown coat back on, are you going to make a male/female tool ? or just a male. Mick Richards
Steve T
It's going to be a male/female, and the top ( male plate ) should give me a 20mm drop flange ( like the original ) for attaching the heel plate & inner arches. The only bit I won't replicate are the tank bumps as I'll probably make some threaded bosses instead to save bolts going outside and rusting solid.
Nickffc
wow.....!! i am just but a mear mortal....a mortal that would be very intersted in purchasng one of these once they have been created.... Now how about the kick panel.......!! Nick
Steve T
It's a little way off yet as I'm awaiting a free cnc miller, but hopefully get it on in the next couple of weeks. By the ' kick panel ' I'm guessing you mean what I call the heel board, the vertical panel in front of the diff floor with the small propshaft tunnel attached? If you do, then these are still available. I may also make the brackets which hold the diff floor to the diff bridge, as mine are fairly rusty.
Nickffc
Hi Steve yes the heel board.. just looked again on rimmers and yes your right... probably didnt look hard enoght.. please give us a shout if you get going on it.. i see i'm not that far away from you either... all the best Nick
