AJ2014
Hi Just noticed this on eBay, poorly advertised due to its heading but thought it may be of interest to somebody on here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/classic-cars-triumph/121798961189?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33957%26meid%3D73047f28f66e49c7b0092c5d2d4fc4c0%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D361411564154 I am in no way connected to the car or seller Regards Ade
Don H.
jonmac (for those of you who know him) posted the reference on the US-based "Triumphs" list at team.net, with some comments based on knowledge from his time with S-T: "...the car was clearly built at the assembly plant in Belgium which explains the 1 prefix to the commission number. Interestingly, while the picture of the interior shows an overdrive switch on the column, there's no reference to it on the commission number which suggests it was fitted after leaving Belgium. The last suffix P confirms the car left Coventry painted and in a kit for completion in Belgium. Interestingly, the additional plate must have been added for the German domestic market as cars for Austria and Switzerland were built in Coventry to meet European Free Trade Area regs. Note too that the stated horsepower is the DIN equivalent of SAE. It looks like 143 at first glance but is actually 147.94 rounded up to 148. Looks like someone has tried to alter the last figure 3 into an 8..." Edited October 27, 2015 by Don H.
