Mark69
Hi Nigel I have successfully veneered my dash twice now. Both sets of veneers were bought from a seller on ebay. The first was a burr walnut as beautiful as it was it was not to my liking, so I have stripped it off and covered with some oak which I absolutely love . Not for the purist but I like it . Easy little project just need a little patience. Mark Edited April 14, 2020 by Mark69

marki
Hi Matt. Google SMS Veneering in Weston, by the main sorting office. They did one other for a club member in Burr Walnut, again very good. Ask them not to do the back as it make it a bit of a pain to refit switches etc. I had a body shop put on a couple of coats of clear lacquer, think they charged me £20. Good luck Mark
nibbo
Thanks guy's, it looks like I will have to find a cabinet maker / furnature restorer locally here in East Suffolk. Not worth the hassle of D.I.Y. for £40 odd quid ha ha anything for an easy life Picked up my thrust washers from the post office today from Scott Helms took just 9 days from order to delivery not bad. ed_h
...so may have a go myself... That's the spirit! Here is a write-up on DIY veneering a TR6 dash. It uses a vacuum bag and pump, but there are other ways to accomplish the necessary pressure. http://bullfire.net/TR6/TR6-45/TR6-45.html Ed
Steves_TR6
I re-veneered my dash myself a couple of winters ago, there's a thread on here somewhere. I bought the 'iron-on' veneer and it worked very well Went for Teak veneer and oiled it with Danish oil. 2 years later it still looks great! Let me know if you have any questions Matt, I think I have enough spare veneer left for a whole dash if you'd like it. I'm pondering which wood finish to use as the 6 is Russet Brown ! with a sun tan I could look completely invisible when driving ! regards Matt
