Nick Hedges
Cat D is no problem, it will probably only require a VIC check.( if that') Nick
simonjrwinter
No VIC check for cat D only cat C vehicles
Nick Hedges
So no problem to get back on the road, contrary to a previous post.
simonjrwinter
No, just the repair to do....

simonjrwinter
Not an issue really, cheaper to buy, cheaper to sell.
Guest ntc
Not an issue really, cheaper to buy, cheaper to sell. Try insuring it.
simonjrwinter
Won't make any difference. My Renault is a cat D. No difference at all in insurance price.
Nick Hedges
It would not be a problem, although any agreed value may be less. ( possibly)
simonjrwinter
Yes that's the case, a cat d is usually valued at 20% less than usual price.
Guest ntc
Try 50% less and you would be right.
simonjrwinter
Sorry, that's not correct.
Guest ntc
Sorry, that's not correct. Ask Marko.
Nick Hedges
I think that it would defiantly not reduce the value by that much, the agreed value would be just that ' agreed' and would be made on the condition and information given at the time the policy was taken out. simonjrwinter
Don't need to, have first hand experience.
pfenlon
I only posted this thinking it would be a cheaper way to buy a 6 for someone with spanners and a bit of nouse. I didn't want to cause a forum war, lighten up boys, and try to admit that nobody knows everything. Its worth 6K certainly if the chassis is OK.
simonjrwinter
Dull night on television......
pfenlon
Dull night on television...... You should have watched the Tour of Britain, due to a rest day at the Vuelta, but tomorrows time trial could decide the end result of the Spanish tour unmissable for some of us. Try it Simon, you never know, its good when you clock the rules.
DaveN
I sold a declared Cat D Ford Focus for almost market value...no problem at all. I did have a collection of pictures of the damage to help the sale. A Cat C car needs a VOSA check and that's largely paperwork to ensure the VIN hasn't been tampered with.
