angelfj
I was reading the instructions for adjusting the Lucas RB106/2 control box. Specifically, for the CUTOUT relay the following is stated. (see below) Can someone explain the meaning of the term, "follow-through" Cheers, Frank
RobH
Frank - I take it to mean there should be a further 10-20 thou ( mil in US I believe) of movement between when the contact has first 'made' and the point where the armature is fully bottomed on the pole piece. This ensures there is some spring pressure on the contacts. Rob

Over here we used the term, "contact wipe" to describe the distance that a moving contact arm travels after the contacts touch. So, different word, same meaning, I believe. Many thanks, Frank
AlanT
Rubbish instructions really. Put a feeler gauge between the contact and insulated arm and adjust so that the contact then just touches. When the feeler gauge is removed the contact will folloe through by the gauge thickness. "Just touching" is traditionally found with a cigaratte paper. But any thin paper would do. When just touching you can pull the paper but only just.
