keith w
I have cleaned up the flywheel from a Rover 3500 V8 but found some small surface cracks on the pressure surface as shown in the picture. Is this normal or do I need to replace the flywheel? Thanks Keith
TriumphV8
I found them on my Rover engine and put flywheel on the lathe and took off some of the surface. As the whole release mechanism needed to be moved a bit forward, too this is not recommended for everybody. But the cracks had been gone after that procedure, so they have been only on the surface. Anyway I did not feel confident with that solution and a lightened cast flywheel at some stage of tuning may be a risk. So I went to the McLeod complete clutch with the steel flywheel. It fitted into the SD1 housing without problems although Hardcastle (Tuning Rover V8 engines) said something different. The Flywheel is on page 12 http://www.real-steel.demon.co.uk/section1.pdf
