TR4 dashboard advice please

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm in the process of converting a Lhd TR4 to Rhd and was hoping someone could tell me what the difference is between a TR4 dash and a TR4a dash backing are they essentially the same part and if not can the TR4a part be modified to do the job?

Cheers

Bruce

Ive done exactly this.

The only differences are the shape of the hole that the steering column passes through and the switch plinth mounting brackets stick out further on the 4 to accommodate the different size.

Hi Bruce,

I guess you have a metal LHD dash?

If so, why not cut it up and convert/weld it to RHD. That's exactly what I did many years ago and it now looks the boules de chiens - if I do say it myself!

Certainly less costly but the cutting has to be done with some precision.

I have a photo somewhere of it in sections reconfigured on a chipboad base ready for re-welding. If you're interested I could try to look it out
