AL TR250
What's the story on this car? Or have I not been paying attention? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/261685113665?clk_rvr_id=787292969196&item=261685113665&lgeo=1&vectorid=229508&rmvSB=true Looks amazing. Alan Cochrane
Seems a lot of dosh for a TR250, even in that condition. I notice it's been converted to RHD as well. Strange that there's no under bonnet pictures-is it a PI conversion or still twin strombergs, I wonder? The interior's a bit over restored for my liking. I put a walnut dash in my GT6 years ago and it looks good with the black interior. I'm not so sure it looks so good with the tan interior though-a bit like a tart's boudoir. Purely a subjective view of course. I'm sure somebody will see it and fall in love. I better get my skates on and get my own 250 resto project underway before prices go through the roof. Cheers Alan
AL TR250
The price does seem quite 'firm'. Up in TR5 territory. Although I am not sure I will ever be accused of over restoring anything, your comparison to a tart's boudoir is a warning to all of us to leave a few rough bits round the edges. I see there are a couple of others on ebay as well: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1968-Triumph-TR250-sports-convertible/271758756817?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3Dca321a517ebf433382f90ec2df6a999f%26pid%3D100204%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D261685113665 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1968-Triumph-TR250-Left-Hand-Drive-Roadster-U-S-Version-of-TR5-Restored/361186584472?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D5055adbef5fe449ba9b50789c5b5ead2%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D271758756817&rt=nc
Alec Pringle
Referring to the car in the original posting - look at the wheels . . . . . If I had to put that much balancing weight on, the wheel would be in the scrap stillage, not on the car . . . . . Cheers Alec
peejay4A
"Owned by an active and well known member of the TR Register". It looks very nice although one thing piqued my curiosity. The ad says it comes with a full tonneau cover to protect the unused seat when it's unoccupied. I've never seen that with a Surrey. Tom Fremont
Can't make out if the hardtop lid is plastic or metal . The RF wheel's balance weights might have been necessitated by cheapo tyres rather than the wheels, or one could hope... Anyway, given the relatively modest cost to boost the performance back up to the TR5's it is logical they should approach the price point. Whether there were 3000 or 8500 made seems a fine point nowadays. Of course, both are slow by modern standards; the '250 just being even more so! As a DCOE devotee I'd have to convert a P.I. example for regular use anyway, so the '250 is a good fit for me vs. the 5, even if the latter were LHD. Chances of finding a rust/accident free example are at least an order of magnitude, if not two, greater as well. Having said that, a P.I. example is far and away more of a thrill to find than any of the emission controlled carb versions .
AL TR250
Hmm. Are 250 prices going up or down? Morris Leslie have 2 for sale in their auction on 7th March http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/SaleStock.aspx?Sale=1724 estimated at £14-18k, yet they sold one in their November sale for £29,500 http://www.morrisleslie.com/results-08-11-14.html The green one seems to have a badge missing from the boot….. Interesting stock in that sale, not only 2 TR250`s but 2 TR4`s and a longdoor TR2 as well. Shame its so far away. Stuart.
Robin Powell
The TR250 I put up for sale through a local outfit.. The steel hardtop is vinyl covered (not by me). The description is car salesman talk, - there is no tonneau, wire wheels are 72 spoke etc. I sent a correction but to no avail. Here is a picture of under the bonnet http://s868.photobucket.com/user/ThamesValleyTRs/media/P1000918_zpsmw1qp2us.jpg.html?sort=3&o=
AL TR250
It looks like a nice car Robin. Is it you selling it or a trader? I don't see any wire wheels in the photos just minilites with no centre cap. The auction is not too far from me so I might go down for a look.
Robin Powell
I think you have the wrong TR250, mine has wire wheels and for information on Goodyear NCTs. It is being sold by a dealer on commission. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/261685113665?clk_rvr_id=787292969196&item=261685113665&lgeo=1&vectorid=229508&rmvSB=true Cheers
AL TR250
Sorry crossed lines. I thought you meant the green one at Morris Leslie. Good luck selling yours.
roocarl
That green one does seem cheap if the nut n bolt restoration is accurate ? Will be interesting to see what they fetch
AL TR250
I think it may be one of those auctions where they put ludicrously low estimates to get people along and then everything sells for way over. Some of the non-TR estimates also look very light. It looks good in the advertising if lots sell for a big percentage over estimate. As I mentioned above last year they sold a 250 for nearly 30k so they must have an idea of their value.
roocarl
Know what you mean ! Mind you there is a Brown Marina for £2500 when was a brown Marina ever worth 2.5 large lol?
AL TR250
Brown Marina looked immaculate. Well worth 2.5k...... The green TR250 looked as though it hadn't had much TLC since its 'nut and bolt restoration'. Odd bits of surface rust here and there. The red 250 looked more original although it was missing its VIN plate as was the TR6. Not sure how you register it without a VIN???
AL TR250
Well the red one sold for £14,500 and the green one went for £16,200 (provisionally)…...
roocarl
Seems cheap suprised it was that low would of been interesting to see them in a London Auction if they would of fetched more ...
Gary Flinn
Hi all I've recently joined the TR Register and want a TR5 or alternatively a TR250? I have been drooling over this particular Car since December of last year and have had E-Mail correspondance with Imageautomotive about a possible Part Swop with Cash top up for my A1 Condition Triumph Vitesse Convertible? Alas I never got a reply Robin Can you tell me some of the History of the car or alternatively send me a Personal message with the details on how long you have owned it, work carried out, etc? Regards Gary Edited March 13, 2015 by Gary Flinn

AL TR250
I see Morris Leslie are re-selling the green TR250 from their March sale, plus some TR3's and the same (??) TR4, in their August sale. Maybe the pigeons in the rafters couldn't come up with the cash? http://www6.amstock.co.uk/morrisleslie/SaleStock.aspx?Sale=1777
