Wingo
My Tr7 V8 spat it's fan belt off today, The belt has been trouble from day one after fitting the V8, I must have tensioned three of four times from fitting. It was jumping about as well even when tensioned up, The pulleys all line up ok, the belt was a 13 x 1225 mm 13A1225 I think the belt was too wide and too long. The engine is a carbed SD1 engine with power steering but no air con. The correct belt looks to be a 11 x 1170 mm, 11A1170c slightly narrower and shorter. Does the 11A1170c sound like the right belt to drive the water pump and alternator? Ray Edited February 15, 2015 by Wingo
TR8IAN
Hi Ray, My Unipart book gives a reference for a non air cond. SD1 as GCB51168 - I did buy a new belt for my car last year (I don't run with power steering) but I cant find the invoice I'll go and have a dig in the boot. Alec Pringle
11 x 1168 is a standard fitting, but a couple of mill either way shouldn't be any problem . . . . Cheers Alec
Wingo
Thanks, just fitted a belt 1175 long x 9mm wide it only just went on with the alternator in its slackest position. Seems to fit well with no slipping Got a spare 11 x 1170 mm belt that I'm going to make sure fits ok before carrying as a spare. Ray
