TR7 V8 Fan belt (alternator/water pump belt)

Recommended Posts

My Tr7 V8 spat it's fan belt off today, The belt has been trouble from day one after fitting the V8, I must have tensioned three of four times from fitting.

It was jumping about as well even when tensioned up, The pulleys all line up ok, the belt was a 13 x 1225 mm 13A1225

I think the belt was too wide and too long.

The engine is a carbed SD1 engine with power steering but no air con.

The correct belt looks to be a 11 x 1170 mm, 11A1170c

slightly narrower and shorter.

Does the 11A1170c sound like the right belt to drive the water pump and alternator?

Hi Ray,

My Unipart book gives a reference for a non air cond. SD1 as GCB51168 - I did buy a new belt for my car last year (I don't run with power steering) but I cant find the invoice I'll go and have a dig in the boot.

Cheers

Ian
