The UK Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations and the MOT are 2 different things.

 

The regulations state that Filament bulbs must be used for the headlights, side lights, indicator lights, fog lights and brake lights.

This also applies to bicycles!

 

There is no requirement in the MOT test to make sure that a vehicle has filament bulbs fitted, probably because up until recently filament bulbs were the only bulbs available.

Not seen a bicycle that doesn't have LED's, you can now see them!! :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Done it as well! Attached photo shows comparison between new LEDs and the LEDs fitted by a previous owner. Much more comforting when driving in poor visibility conditions.

 

Changed the front side lights as well, but no photo. Also much better but they are now very white compared to filament bulbs - perhaps too much so as they somehow change the character of an older car . . . . . .
