keith w
Does anyone else find they can move their distributor cap slightly when it's in situ? It's almost like the spring clips holding it down are the wrong width or not strong enough. It doesn't seem to affect the car's running but I'm just nervous it's going to do something unpredictable. This is on a 1981 4-pot by the way.
TR8IAN
Yes, I've noticed that too. It won't move far as there is a locating peg - even with the original type blue Lucas caps. Cheers Ian
nibbo
And an absolute pain to adjust without prehensil fingers and hands and a special spanner Nigel
AnthonyF
Don't think you have anything to worry about Keith, mine also moves a fraction. As Ian says there is a locating peg. As long as you have the clips on correctly it won't do anything nasty.
acaie
It won't affect the ignition timing, and it's been like this on thousands of cars for up to 30+ years. Relax and and enjoy your motoring in the summer weather, your car will tell you when something needs fixing !
