How to IMPROVE TR5, etc... by Roger Williams

Recommended Posts

I'd also like to find a copy of this book. I see there are a couple for sale on Amazon, but they are asking £791.86, so rather too rich for me. Some pages are also available at Google books online (as a preview) free of charge, but not the whole book unfortunately. I'd post a link, but I'm having trouble finding out how to do that on here.

Try http://www.abebooks.co.uk, they are a database of new/used booksellers inventory. I've bought loads of books through them. They have a few available for under £30.

Thanks for the link TR Mitch, but I seem to be missing something because I've searched against ISBN, title and author, but I cannot find the book at all. There's plenty of "How to improve your TR2 - TR4A", but nothing for TR5 that I can find. I've tried Bookfinder and Book Depositary. I have at least now found a copy that is sub-£200 . . . not that I'll be buying it. Hunt goes on.

Sorry my mistake! Set an Ebay search I guess is the best thing?

Easy to confuse the 'restore' and 'improve' books for the various TR models !

The books are moderately interesting, but I wouldn't wish to pay silly money for them - rather like Haynes offerings, good in parts . . . . I've noted many a comment therein that raises my eyebrows, and it's always worth seeking a width of views on this Forum when it comes to 'improvements'.

Over the years we've seen from TR specialists more than a few so-called 'upgrades' that are more suited to competition than road use for example, and others which seemed intent on fixing what was neither broke nor even a problem . . . . . but presumably generated a healthy profit margin.

Caveat emptor rules OK. ;)

Cheers

You can try these guys: http://www.autoboek.com/index.php

A Dutch company (and close to my home). If I can be any help, just send me a PM. Their English version of their website isn't really good(...) so at least I can try and help you translate it.

It helps when you have the ISBN for the book at hand.

I've done an extensive search on Ebay, but sadly without luck (annoyingly it looks like a copy sold on Ebay mid last year for £10). I thought we were on to something with Graze's link, but then realised that this is for the "How to RESTORE Triumph TR5/250 & 6", rather than the "How to IMPROVE" book. Thanks for trying anyway Graze. I've not had any luck searching for the title on the site you provided either Menno, but again I appreciate your efforts. For anyone that is interested, the ISBN is 978-1903706688.

Rather than pay out silly money for this book in the hope it might contain a few things that are interesting to me, I think I'll follow Alec's advise and seek out views from TRR forum members first.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I have one of these .. how to improve tr5, 250/6 In my opinion it is not worth having (oh and by the way the pages fall out) I'll sell mine for a lot less than £700 what am I bid !!!

I also have a Gareth Thomas tuning manual has more useful information than the roger wiliams books, but there is a lot of negative opinion about GT on this forum. It is not available I think anywhere but I might be wrong so any offers welcomed . Highest bid secures,
