jerrytr5 Posted June 12, 2014 Report Share Posted June 12, 2014 Here's one that I wasn't aware of: If you become the new keeper of a vehicle that is already on SORN at the DVLA you are required to re-declare SORN otherwise you become liable for a fine. So if you purchase a vehicle that you think has another 4 months SORN to run, it actually expires when you take ownership. The DVLA will not notify you of this when they send out the new V5C. OldBob Posted June 13, 2014 Report Share Posted June 13, 2014 Hi Jerry, I believe a SORN declaration is also per address, not just per owner. So if you move house, a vehicle under a SORN in your ownership needs a new declaration - even within the first year. Happy to be corrected on this but that is my understanding.
