Here's one that I wasn't aware of:

If you become the new keeper of a vehicle that is already on SORN at the DVLA you are required to re-declare SORN otherwise you become liable for a fine.

So if you purchase a vehicle that you think has another 4 months SORN to run, it actually expires when you take ownership. The DVLA will not notify you of this when they send out the new V5C.

So beware.

Hi Jerry,

 

I believe a SORN declaration is also per address, not just per owner.

 

So if you move house, a vehicle under a SORN in your ownership needs a new declaration - even within the first year.

 

Happy to be corrected on this but that is my understanding.
