Surrey Roof rear chrome strip

Recommended Posts

Another question on Surrey Tops - the chrome or stainless steel trim piece fitted to the rear of my roof section is in fairly poor condition. My understanding is these are not available new, and I'm guessing that looking for good second hand is probably a lost cause. Does anybody have any suggestions of a suitable alternative to use, or any experience of resuscitating an elderly original ?

Be grateful for any thoughts

Thanks

Matthew

You can have them re-polished which may suffice or use the plastic/chrome strip from a Mini sill trim.

The original isn't chromed but stainless steel.

The strip has a compound curve and remaking one of these would be a real challenge - especially as the edges are doubled back on itself.

I was thinking: as it is only a finishing strip it could be made form mild steel and chromed. At least it would be easier to bend!!

Thinking cap on :o
