Just had the 'new' Lucas green box 2 posn ignition switch fail on my car. It is the on/off only with Lucar terminals, not the screw terminal type which it replaced.

One of the 'U' shaped Lucar terminals that is rivetted to the back of the switch which the wiring connects to became un-rivetted.

Thankfully it was not the 'Hot' side or we could have had Lucas smoke escaping from the loom.

I have repaired this 2 year old switch with the soldering iron and lots of flux. I did both the terminals even though the other one looked to be OK.

If any one else out there has such a switch it may be worth 'wobbling' the terminals to be sure they are strongly attached.

Cheers

Peter W

Unfortunately thats pretty typical of the green box Lucas stuff now made as cheap as possible.
