Spare wheel cover / boot floor

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have a original spare wheel cover part no 812236, which I have removed the 4 metal frame sections for refurbishing, the metal is a little thin in places now.

Is anyone interested in making copy's of these metal items while I have it apart.

The cover consists of a sheet of 5mm hardboard and 4 pieces of thin bent steel with which the correct sheet metal bending apparatus could easily be replicated.

The going rate from the dealers is £110.

Any interest before I reassemble it?

Cheers

Sean

Roger or any other FAB guy interested?

Lovely work Alan, what is your final finish on the marine ply, it has a sheen on it, is it painted or a rubber type overlay.

Pro finish from a guy up the street that does pianos.

It's what he calls "automotive lacquer". Basically 2-pack.

Mostly this is easy stuff that anybody with a jig-saw could do.

Except for the clips that mate with the body. You'd need a mill for those.

Another job for the list, but well worthwhile doing.

I have just renovated the original cover for the boot floor using the original metalwork with a new panel.

My question is at the rear of the panel is a metal upstand, does this upstand butt up against the face of the fuel tank cover board or hook up underneath it and therefore go behind the panel?

Many thanks,

Tim

Thanks Dave, that was my thought as well. TR Shop thought not though.

Depends if you have the correct shaped tank board, it should have a slight cut out at the bottom the width of the spare wheel cover metal plate to allow it to slip in under. Lots of them dont.
