WHEEL CYLINDER flat piston vs slotted piston

Recommended Posts

Hi Esben,

In theory they are interchangeable but you should be aware that when the flat piston cylinders were fitted the shoes were held to the backplate by a peg and spring arrangement. At TS15332 this was replaced by the slotted piston type and the shoes were located only by a steady post, I assume that the slots were considered to give enough location.

The Moss catalogue shows all this plus the third peg design used on the later 9 inch brakes.

Whatever you fit make sure you do the same each side.

Mike
