david ferry
Well, it's been a very busy few days. Number 17 runs, all electrics work, suspension and steering have received attention so that they both. The interior trim and hood have all been sorted out. The car is completely ready for its MOT tomorrow. Photos will follow tomorrow. The car looks great. I'm so very pleased about what we have achieved. I'm hoping to report tomorrow that the car is ready for the road, pending UK registration which should be a formality. CC25017L, the world's oldest surviving TR6 will soon be gracing the roads of Warwickshire, the place where it was built on 19 September 1968, the very first day of Triumph TR6 production. markhoble
Well done one and all. A very fruitful few days and quite an achievement given the condition of the car when it came out of the crate. See you tomorrow for a celebratory sherbert ! Bernie and Mario could learn something from this. Mark
david ferry
Both cars (number 17 and number 32) are now the proud owners of UK registration numbers. A pleasing end result. I will be in the workshop fairly soon and will take some photos to post here. I've received a number of requests from elsewhere for these too. All that we need to do now is order some number plates and then decide what to do with the cars - carefully and sympathetically restore them, or sell them to other enthusiasts for them to do this. Sympathetic restoration will be easy as neither car has rust and they both have their peculiar 'early TR6' features intact. These are both significant cars in the history of the Triumph TR6. david ferry
Hi folks. A decision about what to do with these two historic TR6s has been made. We have decided to sell them to individuals who will take proper care of them and sympathetically fully recommission them. We will be making decisions about how they should be sold in the near future and then, they will be sold. However, it's not going to be a case of the highest bidder gets them, the eventual buyer will be the right person for each of the cars. They are both fully road legal and therefore UK registered. If anyone is seriously interested in either of these cars, please contact me via PM. David
david ferry
If you are going to the Classic Motor Show at the NEC this weekend, you will be able to see CC25017L, that's the world's oldest surviving TR6, on the TR Register stand. david ferry
Quick update on CC25017L. A couple of days ago, I extracted this car from the back of the workshop where it has been living for way too long. The only times it has been out is to various shows. After a little effort and some shiny new fuel, the car sparing into life. This was all pending a viewing today by a potential buyer. Steve, the potential buyer of the car liked it and has bought the car. He plans to undertake a very sympathetic restoration of this important car. It will return to its condition when it was built on 19th September 1968. This is something that is very important to me as the car’s history and importance need to be respected. Doubtless, Steve will add information as and when appropriate. He’s not yet a TR Register member, but that’s about to change. I’m so pleased it is going to a good home!
