mike3md
I have fitted my hardtop with new seals after a repaint in original colour, and while all the other rubbers are OK, the result at the front looks different from others I have seen - in that the seal is visible, although the shaped cross section is sitting in the capping pressing, and the bolt holes lined up pretty well between the top and the seal without stretching. Is the seal (from Moss) too thick, and/or too far forward? To move it back would require some trimming, not sure how I can make it thinner though. Your thoughts are welcome. North London Mike
Mike Could be that the gap between your screen header rail and the back light is to big, as your 'lid' looks too far back ? See you at the regular tomorrow to discuss further
BrianC
When we fitted the steel Surrey to Lynda's TR4A we bought all the seals from TRGB and they fitted well. Might be worth asking them if they were from Moss or ANO supplier.
Tom Fremont
Refit the seal 1/4" back from the front edge ( in the centre , tapering forward at the ends ) and see how it does .
mike3md
Thanks Brian & Tom, I will follow up both suggestions. The seal is made of fairly hard rubber, this may also be a cause. I will also try and borrow another hardtop for a comparison fit. Mike
Tom Fremont
Mike, There are at least (2) versions of the seal available; the soft one I use comes from MOSS in the US.
mike3md
Thanks Tom, I will investigate here as well. Mike
