Hi

My fuel gauge has never been quick on the uptake (usually took a few minutes to register whats in the tank) I noticed the other day that it has now given up and is registering zero......the tank is actually half full.

Any simple hints and tips before I need to take more drastic action

Thanks in advance

Keith

Obviously check your wiring especially the earth on the sender first. Disconnect the wires at the sender and then check with a meter that the sender is doing something with a meter across the terminals on resistance setting whilst raising and lowering the float and also that you have voltage at the sender green and black wire. Also check the wires at the gauge that you have 12 volts in at the green and out at the green and black. Then tell us what you have.

Is the float floating? Check that it's not partially or completed submerged due to a leak. Although these gauges usually take a minute or two to give a sensible reading, if it was very slow to come up to a correct reading before, then it's quite likely the float was leaking slightly and has just got much worse. Try hooking the arm up to see if the reading changes.
