Overdrive gear knob

Recommended Posts

Thise is great!

The Oracle of TRR turns up ALL the information needed!

But as mentioned the hole up my 'stick has an ID of 2.5mm. The only thickness of wire that could go up there, double, is the AWG24, with an OD of 1.02mm and a conductor 0.25mm^2.

OK for use, with a relay?

BUT! It comes in ONE HUNDRED METER REELS!

At £34 before the additions, so £50 with VAT and P&P?.

Ouch!

Anyone else want some?

John Harvey? Or how about the Club Shop buys a reel, and sells it off, 2 meters(?) at £1 a meter?

That's 50% profit, if you can sell it all!

That looks much more buyable, PJ, thank you!

But the specs are obscure:

"Equipment wire (16/0.2)"

and

"Light-Duty Euipment (10/0.1)"

Do the numbers mean wire gauge (smaller would be finer) and cross-sectional area in mm^2?

And what's an "L/C wire"?

No idea what L/C means John. 10/0.1 means 10 strands of 0.1mm wire in the core. The outside dimensions are given under the spec tab:

Specifications: (formatting lost, sorry).

Stranded core, single: 10/0.1mm copper Sheath: 0.3mm PVC Overall diameter: 0.9mm Nom. conductor area: 0.0785mm2 Max. working voltage: 1000V rms Max. current: 0.5A Colours available: Black, Blue, Green, Red, White, Yellow Supplied on 25m reels only.

Ah! So!

Thanks, PJ. At £7 odd that's a more buyable option, quite thin enough and at 0.5A probably man enouhg for a relayed O/d(?).

And at 25meters a roll probably enough for a dozen cars or more!

Anyone else want some?

(IF I buy any)

So what do the MG boys do?

I would think this cable has been re done to a good spec. As MG (m)owners don't take no ****.

Try the MG owners club spares perhaps - it is a business not a club as the would suggest.
