PHOENIX MANIFOLD/OVERHEAD LINKAGE

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Next on my to do list is my old exhaust, im looking at a Phoenix manifold and large bore exhaust. A few questions....

1 Will i need to change the throttle linkage to overhead ? I dont wont to do this if i can help it as iv'e just bushed and rebuilt the standard and im happy with it.

2 Will i get a couple of extra HP from this system or not ? as the winter project is head and cam work.

3 Any ideas from where to purchase or is it normal suppliers ?

Cheers for now Mark..

Hi Mark,

I hope you had a good trip south!

There was a chap selling a barely used second hand Phoenix system a couple of weeks ago and I don't think it sold (I could be wrong) maybe worth a quick forum search if your ok with a slightly used system.

Engine goes back in on the 16th! Hope to be out and about soon.......

Good news on the engine, look forward to seeing you out and about...........

Thanks Mark.

Hi Mark, yes I think mine has a Pheonix manifold and standard set up on the linkage. Trouble is I'm in Hampshire and my car is in Gloucestershire, can take some pics at the weekend though if it helps.

Mark, I do know its definitely on a standard linkage as I've just put the fast idle bit back together correctly after it had been in to a so called TR specialist for work by the previous owner. Yet another thing I've found bogded. The only thing I'm not sure on is whether its a genuine Pheonix manifold as it was already fitted on the car. It's tubular stainless and on a receipt in the paperwork it says Pheonix sports exhaust so I'm assuming it is. But happy to take some pics and send you over the weekend. I also think the tubular construction provides better exhaust flow than the cast original so it probably ups the bhp a little. Sounds great though whatever !

Hi mark

I fitted the Phoenix headers with cross flow rear. Purchased from moss.

No problems with the standard under slung linkage.

I did have to modify the bracket for the air manifold so it cleared the extractor pipes.

It does sound good and really freed up the engine, money well spent.

Nice video.

Do you have A or J type OD, i wonder if that makes a diff to fitting ?

There must be somebody thats fitted a Pheonix system out there, i dont want to have to employ a shop to fit it.

Thanks Steve

Mark.

Hi tony

I have not done anything one the rear (apart from diff out to repair the mounts) so have not looked at the camber. I may have been accelerating when this pic was taken.

having another look to day in the shed it does not look the same so the pic is a little mis leading.

I will compare other tr6 when I at the next club meet. Thanks for the pointer
