Bore size for cam shaft bearings

Recommended Posts

Thanks again all. Plenty of options now. I don't mind travelling to get a decent job so John D and Dave McD recommendations are not out of the question. However if some one more local can do it I'll look into that to. I had contacted Rob Walker but he didn't reply so maybe a phone call only company.

As far as balancing goes I have always had the parts balanced when rebuilding these engines. Never gone as far as dynamic balancing but always matched pistons, rods for wieght and statically balanced the crank.

To be honest I did the line boring by myself but was not able to keep

the new bores in limits but I had them in line.

What I had also was a diametre gauge from the cylinders

and a lathe and micrometer measurement.

So I drilled them all in line and made my own bushings from CuSn12,

unfortunately that material is expensive but some companies

offer tube material and one had the proper diametre.

I could go up to 52mm!

Hi Andreas

,

Thanks for showing that and proving that it can be done as I consider it a waste of a good block without doing this type of repair.

Bruce.
