AlfredHitchcock
I'm looking to buy a wiper motor (DR3A) single speed to replace my duff unit. Ive seen a few DR3As on ebay, but not with the identical serial number to mine - 75456A. Does anyone know the significance of this difference please? PS my gear wheel is in good condition if it has to be swopped. Edited June 1, 2013 by AlfredHitchcock
AlanT
http://www.vitessesteve.co.uk/LucasStuff/LucasStuff1.htm will show the part-numbers. Not sure 75456 is the "correct" TR number but this is a very common number. Its all in the book anyway. Got some here if you want one. All states from rebuilt with chrome bits, through NOS, down to as removed after 50years service. Also got spares if you want to fix yours. AlfredHitchcock
Thanks Alan Ive had a look at the Lucas wiper motor stuff and cant find reference to 75456A at all. I'll have a closer look later. Ive also read through the description of the operation of the DR3 on the britishcarforum but I cant open the diagrams without joining. Ive gone and bought a working 75456A off of ebay which will need cleaning up and painting to get me going. It was only £30 delivered. If the gears are knackered at least I know that my good ones can be transplanted into it. Can you pm me some prices for what you have please? Incidentally the one I have is 120 degrees which from what Ive read on here is the correct sweep.
tthomson
If the worm gear in the purchased unit matches the gear you have then you should be fine. TT
JANA
I have a 'brand new ' single speed motor lurking in the garage I think, if your interested? Would save you lots of pennies ? The 4a I bought , had just had it fitted by the PO and cost him £190 I think , should have been 2 speed. unit for the wiring /switch etc. So took it off, and spent mega bucks on a 2 speed motor , £300 ish! Let me know if it would help you. Would ask less than the usual suspects. Bob.
AlanT
I just checked the Lucas manual for 1965. 75456A is the part specified for a TR4. Single speed but easy to modifify for two-speed operation as in my earlier topic.
AlfredHitchcock
Thanks All Bob I'm still waiting for my £30 special to arrive before I find out whether I need to spend anymore. I've got to ease off the spending for a while but what ££s you looking for yours? PM me if you would prefer. Cheers Nick
JANA
Hi Nick, The price is normally about £200 , will sell it for £100 + pp. It is reconditioned but bought from a well known TR specialist. cheers Bob.
