Skidmark Posted February 15, 2013 Report Share Posted February 15, 2013 The worn original hinges can be repaired,a run of weld around the exposed end of the pins,heat the seized centre section to cherry red with oxy acetylene,then with pliers quench the hinge in a container of old engine oil.Place the hinge in a vice and with a few taps with a hammer,the hinge will be freed and as good as new. They need to be drilled out for larger pins and I would prefer to replace with new, unless the available new hinges are not fit for purpose. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

enna19490 Posted August 22, 2014 Report Share Posted August 22, 2014 our new door hinges dont fit properley. They had to be cut/ rewelded before they would let the door line up properley. Consequently- paint had been chipped & this has had to be redone too- on both sides. They have been a real "pain" With the new door cards - it was a job to shut the passenger door at all- all down to these new hinges Quote Link to post Share on other sites
AlanT Posted August 22, 2014 Report Share Posted August 22, 2014 I bored mine out, fitted bronze sleeves and made stainless pins. It does not stop there. The holes in the other half wear oval.
