Radiator Cowl Air Intake for a twin carb?

Recommended Posts

Fellow enthusiasts,

I've about to fit a new radiator cowl to my twin carb 6 and have been recommended to use Tony who sells both PI and Carb versions on ebay, see below;

He comes highly recommended by mssrs Mike3739 and GreenhillTR6 and having just spoken to him he's asked me a question I thought I'd share with the forum. Being a twin carb model how best do I get air directly into the factory fitted airbox? He informs me that on previous orders he has cut a 100mm hole for customers to then feed air from the cowl into the box. Has anybody done this and if so can you advise on what's best and what other fittings I can get off the shelf to supply the carbs?

Regards,

Sparky!

K&N do this Apollo filter and hose kit, seems to work well.

I bought one of these once and it was great quality at a reasonable price. If you search you may find other colours.

Tony cut a 100mm hole in my shroud and I used a length of the semi-flexible heater air hose which is used on the early Sprites. My carbs are fitted with individual air filters and I stopped the hose at about 3" from the front carb. This ensured cool air in the area of the carb intakes and also stopped the fuel vapourisation the car suffered when stopped for a short time in hot weather.

Hi Steve

Leacy's stock the 4inch flexible hose that I run with the 4 inch Plenum. only in Black or maybe Tony could make 3 or 4inch S/S pipe for you worth an ask?

Cheers
