Hi Nick,

you're busy scanning these old images - may I suggest you please forward copies by email to the TR Register office, asking that they be forwarded to the TR7/8 Registrar and to the Archives team ?

It would be good to have these shots in the club archive as well as with the Registrar. That's to office@tr-register.co.uk

You might also consider penning an account for TR Action ? Wayne, the editor, would love to hear from you I'm sure, especially as he's a V8 man himself. magazine@tr-register.co.uk

Cheers

Alec

Alec,

Sent some pics to club archive, as requested. How do you mean with regards second bit?

If you are not sick of photos will sort some more of better ones out and put them up.

TR Action is the club magazine, Wayne Scott the editor. Email Wayne, he'll send you a sample copy I'm sure. And I'll talk to him at Gaydon tomorrow if I get a chance.

I reckon he'd be over the moon with an article for the mag about your Dad's exploits, especially with your period piccies . . . . and if needed, he or I could assist with the writing and/or sub editing.

Cheers

Alec

Unipart own the ex Tony Pond car HRW250V,it was used by Unipart on the Himalayan rally after the factory stopped the rally programme. Still as it was when the rally finished, it was part of the Heritage collection at Gaydon but kept in storage. When ownership of Gaydon changed hands, the various Unipart cars(the 2 March Dolomite F3 cars etc) were moved to premises near the new Mini factory. They are in storage and weren't running the last time I saw them. I noticed that one of the March Dolomite F3 cars has now been moved back to Gaydon. A friend of mine owns the ex works Marina as used on the 1971 RAC rally.

To be fair, back in the day 'works' TR7 rally cars seemed to have had had their shells exchanged on a regular basis, which does rather limit the degree of provenance which many such cars can claim . . . .

The realistic attitude would be to rebuild the reusable old components into a replacement shell and then transfer the registration number . . . . . which is what the V8 Lady and I did with KEH 2V. Most of the mechanicals are still those used by John Colburn when he built the car, but the V5C does of course refer to the identity of the replacement shell whilst retaining the old registration number.

Cheers
