Pete R
I have just purchased my third TR and on every one the indicators didn't self cancel because the steering column was 180 degrees out of position so the special clip, found just beneath the hooter ring, was not pointing to the indicator arm. How many of you out there are suffering the same problem, which is relatively easily fixed by rotating the column to line up properly? On previous cars I was able to do this by pulling out the lower splined connection, where it joins the rack, because it had a groove all round where the bolt goes in. However on the latest one both ends only had a flat for the bolt so could only go in one way. I therefore cured it by undoing the top universal joint and rotating it 180 degrees. It might stop some of you getting flashed!
Grabea
Hi Pete, don't think mines quite that far out but cancels better one way than the other so I'll take a look, thanks for the tip. Graham
simonjrwinter
On all the TR columns I've seen, the self-cancelling clip is removeable (with difficulty admittedly) so it can be moved round the clumn to the right place. Simon
peter t
you could also check if you've got worn steering column bushes ( a lovely job if required) Pete

Simon Hi Simon, yes they are removable but there is a little bore in the shaft that locate them on the correct place. Rien
