Lady Anne turns Iron Maiden

Recommended Posts

Wait, I just got it right about that story on damper/gusset ventilation in : http://www.jcna.com/...h/tech0006.html. I'll do testing, more later.

Quoting meself <_<.

I got that gusset story sorted. Most carbs chambers have a "gusset" on the side of the top neck where the damper is inserted. In most SUs, this gusset is not machined to allow air entry into the vacuum chamber above the piston, so the piston does not stay "sucked up". Hence the hole in the damper. If the gusset is machined into a vent, then the damper must not be vented because it would counteract the function of the piston by letting too much air in. Either a hole in the damper OR in the vent, not both, as Jim Taylor says.

Well, I feel much smarter now.

Gusset .... "Oh brave new idiom that has so beautiful words in it" ...

PS: Lady Anne got her first outing today, barely missed the mayor. Too bad, he's from the wrong side.

Man, that thing IS fast ...

Hi guys,

As you already know, Martin Jay did a great job on my dizzy. The TR is going like it never did.

In keeping with this, i'd like to get an in-depth understanding of the distribution system. This means finding a good book on distributor theory, written in an understandable way, with accuracy but not too much obscure considerations.

Can any of you indicate such a book?

I asked Martin Jay. He says there's no such a book and he will write one when he retires. Good man.

Cheers,

Guess what?

I found real unmodified pistons in SU crate number 4. So I took advantage to install them with RH needles instead of TS for better mileage. The TS were definitely on the rich side and this shouldn't change the performance. RH are the "rich" suggestion for HS6 in the SU Haynes book.

I did a bit of cosmetics too but nothing of the Ziggy Stardust persuasion.

Exhaust now rebuit. I did the test drive in the sun today, around Chantilly castle. The world was my mollusc.

This was the last fiddling before the TCF event, although I still have to put the windshield back on with the sidescreens too, as SWMBO was very technical about the car configuration.

Now, cigars ...

Hi,

Increasing tubing diameter for the oil catch system to 0.75" and allowing free rocker cover vent almost cured blow-by. I added ZDDP additive to the oil. Can't really say ... lets's wait.

Hood arch system rebuilt and painted. Can't do any more work right now on account of back ache so I drive.

I can't believe how Motorsport Mickey was right: replacing the radically radiused pistons with weighted normal ones did improve carburation: Smoother, faster response and no lag in acceleration at any rpm. Local cops have an eye on me so I can't test top gear on the forest roads but I'll manage.

Hi all,

In keeping with Colin Chapman's rule of "Light is Right", please contemplate the most appalling TR4 mod ever : side-screens.

I can explain .... but should I?

Somebodys stolen your door handles! or did they just fall off ? I bel Alec will say you wore them off driving through winding country lanes

Being quite hairy to drive, Lady Ann gets an annual shave, but it's a serious one.

Talking cosmetics, the blue monster carrion (122S) finally got out of the garage, courtesy of my friend Bowie and his 4x4. This was taken as Cassius' belly by a colony of mice but now I've found where the bag of fancy accessories was: under a DB4 wheel behind the volvo, left of Rodent City.

So Lady Ann now dons a new rear-view mirror (stupid thing: the only thing I see is my own head plus a bit of the hood ...). The handbrake has a new garter gaiter (whatever) and oil now stays under the floor. In compliance with Alec P.'s remarks, the Wipac "in-ya-face" beam covers have been replaced with super-chic Lucas soft black covers. Other minor things have been screwed in place including a little enameled French flag so that unsuspecting by-passers at Malvern get a clear warning.

Tool box and parts box are set and satnav is being installed as I'm not traveling into "inner" France without it: "No, Officer this thing does not show radars, I just slowed for a hedgehog".

All this done with a non-functional hip and 50% down eyesight, courtesy of the French Medical Institution. This is fun ...

Well Folks,

Just did 2400 kms under the rain (all four days) at the TCF "Triumph Event" in Basque country. Lady Anne covered the gig at full blast without any oil or water consumption. The viagra-ed chassis did its job on bad mountain roads and insane suburban areas just the same (bump-slowers, roundabouts ...). SWMBO took the stance of "don't you think you're a bit fast?" and she was politely told that this was the tacho and this was the speedo and obviously only the red lined numbers could be termed as "too fast" and would she please leggo off my arm so I could do the driving?

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris Hale and Phil Tucker "for real" and the growing participation of the Brits to the Event was much appreciated.

A very nice bit of motoring altogether.

The topic of double feature ressucitation is thus closed. This is it, whether over, roger or out.

I thought that badfrog was the worlds only red tr4 flying amphibian pilot which is why he had to have his chassis sorted :D:D:D:ph34r:

Go easy on greasing the Barbour, Badfrog . . . . .remember Tyson is coming to Malvern, he might take a fancy to your greasy jacket as a plaything ! He's big on greasy titbits . . . . :P

And if he decides to kill it, there is NO WAY that I'm going to try and drag it out of his jaws. Once he gets a firm hold on something, that's it, curtains, he's started so he'll finish. :D

Cheers,

Alec

Me and my big mouth ...

Lady Anne just blew her exhaust: A 35-yrs old brand new Triumphtune unit.

It's time for a new rendition of "With a little help from my friends" by Badfrog and the Englishmen, starring Alec Pringle (mild steel horns) and Overdrive Chris (acetylene torch and drums).

Stay tuned while I work on my stiff upper lip (no viagra needed, thank you so very much).

Badfrog, Cars suck and then you die ..... Bugger.

Funny you should say that ... My first "experience" was a brit girl in a London rock joint called "La Bastille". I was ... That was 1965, my goodness gracious me ... Must have been something that I remember it on cue ... May be that's what started the whole thing with british steel ...

Now for something totally different. Lady Anne is about to receive a brand new shiny Triumphtune collector. As if that b... deserved it.

Among other things, the knob on the air intake level just fell apart (it was the original one). A new chinese refab is on the way.

While I'm at it, the SM needles are now a bit rich, due to the general rebuilt and improvement of the system. TW and other needles will be tested shortly. As a token of the vigorous carburation of the car i just received a 45 € and 1 point ticket for speeding in a 90 kph zone. I was in 3rd at that moment ... Man, that thing is fast.

Badfrog, dodging traffic in memory lane ...
