Chaps,

 

I would like to keep with traditional seats for my 72 6 if possible , and was wondering if it easy to convert a passenger seat to a driver seat as second hand passenger seats are obviously in better condition than drivers seats.

Pretty sure this is not possible. As I have my old seats out of the car sitting in the workshop I had a look. Apart from the obvious difference of the seat recliner mechanism being on the wrong side, the whole shape of the seats in the backrest are different.

The outer sides taper in noticeably to fit in the body tub.

 

If yours are too far gone, see if you can try sourcing a passengers seat from a LHD car, not as much wear & bolt straight in. Unless your frames are shot, a set of diaphrams & foams should sort your existing ones out & TR seats are dead easy to refurb.

Or just use the covers and foams from a good p/s seat to rebuild your drivers seat.
