carld
Guys I think I know the answer but, Is it interior out and tunnel off to replace? Cheers Carl
lynchpin
Hi I managed to do mine a couple of years ago because the previous owner had the sense to cut a neat panel in the side of the tunnel and make a cover out of thin tin sheet screwed on with a little mastic to seal it.It is awkward but possible. cheers Phil.. saffrontr
Carl, If your TR5 had overdrive fitted by the factory and if you still have the original fibreboard gearbox tunnel cover it has a cover plate fitted, see illustration below, so you should only need to remove the H frame and transmission cover carpet. cheers Derek
stuart
If it has a replacement plastic cover then it just has that area moulded in. Best to cut it out after removing and make up a steel cover as you will probably be re-visiting it sometime as the replacement angle drives arent known for their longevity. Hot knife is best for cutting. Stuart.

carld
Spot on Stuart, a very smart plastic one, a careful bit of drilling around the moulding and voila! The angle drive has vibrated off the gearbox, clearly not tightened properly in the past. I believe there should be a copper washer, but clearly that must be on a road somewhere, anyone know the size of washer I need outer and inner measurements.
