Spun it up to get oil pressure and yet didn't fit the plugs and fire it up? What's the matter with you, man?? I think you are taking the concept of "anticipation" to fetishist levels. Start the damn thing and hear it SPEAK! If that doesn't make you want to work into the night to finish it.............wait.......I'm starting to see an explanation for the prevarication... ;-)

Roger,

A man of your calibre with specialist knowledge of avionics, electronics and histrionics will be able to rig up a live video feed from the garage on Tuesday AM.

Your adoring public deserves to be part of the experience.

Slowly getting there. Today I found that I hadn't aligned the distributor exactly right so that got sorted.

Needed spark plugs so off to Halfords. Whereas last year Halfords probably had every plug under the Sun, today not so. No BP6HS plugs at all.

So. off to the next nearest Halfords and lo and behold they also had a dirth of ones favourite plug.

Tomorrow we go hunting plugs - is there a plug hunting season. I would hate to interupt mating plugs.

Roger,

Don't worry, I'm far too busy making new domestic arrangements with your wife!

I simply had no idea they put the reserved parking at Moss and Halfords on steep hills so you could bump start the 4A each time.

Hi Paul,

I've only done a bump start (rolling start), I think, twice and the second one upset the car so much it decided to break down.

Tomorrow the plugs in the 4A (in fact one plug, as I have three others) go in the Blue Racer and we press the tit.

Hi Folks,

well about 30 minutes ago I wired up a temporary supply to the coil (the alternator is not being driven at present), petrol in the tank amd pressed the tit.

The great lump sprang into life. A little fiddle with the timing and the choke and she was running. The oil pressure came up quite quickly 50ish psi.

Having turned it off the pressure gauge stayed at 50 - umm interesting.
