Waldi
Thank you Tony, I will install accordingly tomorrow and test. Can't wait to hear the horns:) Regards, Waldi
Waldi
Tony, Thanks,I installed as you described and it works fine now! I will cut and remove the redundant small diameter purple wire. For the record: I measured the current draw, my multimeter can handle 10A max, and both horns together required 7.3A. My horns are new reproductions. tthomson
Thanks Waldi, Glad you sorted it out. 7.3A sounds about right! Tony
keith1948
Hello Steve (and others facing same dilemma) I have been trawling auto jumbles and restoration shows trying to find 'original' Lucas 6RA relays to fit to TR for headlamp relays. Like Steve I have been on a steep learning curve. 6RA simply refers to type of casing not what is within. For that you need to know the SRB number or 33*** number. For headlamp, normally open 12v relay either SRB111 (33302) or SRB113 (33316) are the ones. Only difference is that pin C1 is double or single respectively. There is a good reference chart in this link: http://tvrna.tvrccna.org/lucas/lucas-relays-6ra.htm SRB131 I think is 33252A, SRB146 is 33222 and 33231 I think is SRB400 to add to this chart. As you will see there are normally open and normally closed and change over as well as 24v and 12v types all called 6RA. The link helpfully gives internal wiring of the relays. I have seen repro Lucas relays for sale but no idea how good or bad these are. Very often the metal casing of these has no id marks on at all which doesn't help. I once saw a Ford Escort Mexico at a show with a bank of normally closed relays being used for the headlamps. Not sure how the owner would have wired these up (I would have chosen normally open) but no doubt one of the experts out there will know. Keith
