Some years ago I purchased (from a Robsport parts bin at a TR Register International) a pair of front amber cruise lights that had the fixing screws mounted from the back (like the old red ones) and have never seen any other like it (see attached image).

Does anyone know where these may have originated? As you may/may not know the reproductions have the fixing screws showing on the outside (as highlighted in the picture). Original rear red ones had the fixings from the inside but never seen amber ones like it. Just wondered when they changed?

Not really an answer to your question but my TR7 is fitted with 'Lucus' Marked Front & Rear side lights - red at back & amber at front ( for flashing indicators ).

They came off a 1980 model.

Like you said they have screws for fixing at the front but see this new old stock from USA which shows the Amber one with rear screws.

He also has red ones with the screws at the back.

A Service Manual I have shows how the fit / removed the Marker lights & they are shown as the rear bolted type for both front & rear. No date on the manual but the steering wheel in another section is the early padded type with the 2 squares on the cross bar – so pre 81 model year when they changed the steering wheel to the Aluminium type

Maybe changed to allow easier fitting with screws on the outside, especially at the front, when, of all things you have to go underneath to tighten up the nuts when your head gets stuck on the front spoiler !

This 1980 – 81 US Model had the non outer screw type
