Steve P
Hi all, During the winter months the coolant temp indicator dropped to just below 1/4 mark after previously being nicely at the 1/2 mark regardless of outside temp. Now we are in the summer months the indicator is still just below 1/4 mark. Any ideas why? Steve
rayjones
Steve, Always worth cleaning up temp sender connector, they tend to oxidise and increase the resistance to current flow, at least on 7's anyway, sure it must be similar on other Tr's Ray
jean
Steve, maybe you thermostat is locked open, in general these things have a limited lifespan On the other hand the temperature guage on my 6 never goes above 1/4 in normal operation and this since 1973 when I bought it. Only moves higher in a traffic jam in hot weather. First thing would be to check as Ray said the thermo sensor and eventually replace the thermostat. Jean
Richard Crawley
Steve, I’ll go for thermostat it’s either not closing or jammed open. I once found a 3mm diameter stone under the lip of the stat in a Sierra; god knows how it got into the system!
