Prospective TR7 book

Recommended Posts

Hello All.  I'm posting a request for help with a new TR7 book.  Hope you can help:

"My name is Roger Williams & I'm writing the final book

in the series on TR Restorations.  Steve Redway kindly gave me your address

& suggested I contact you as he felt you may be able to give me some of the

help I need.

The text of the book is mostly drafted & while it is not now my primary

concern I could use some suggestions from those with TR7s (&'8s) as to where

the main electrical shortcomings are, what usually needs to be restored

during the car's rebuild & where the electrics usually are usefully

upgraded.

However it is the pictures for the book that I primarily need a lot of help

with & where I wonder if you can put me in touch with any relevant members

of your section.  Some chapters will need more (I've * those that I expect

to more than average), some less pictures, but if I tell you that I have

11chapters in need of an average of 20/25 pictures each, you will appreciate

that I have a problem.  The professionals rarely take

frequent/detailed/close-up shots of the work they are doing - they are too

busy doing the work!  Consequently, from previous experience I feel my best

source of help is from (probably several) private restorers.

The chapters  requiring illustration are as follows :-

Rebuilding the four cyl Engine*

Rebuilding the 8 cyl engine*

Gearbox issues (although I'm not trying to illustrate how to re-assemble the

boxes)

Carburettors overhaul

Suspensions & steering rebuilding

Rear Axles - although again I am not attempting to illustrate complete axles

re-build

Brakes

Electrical issues

Retriming the car & recovering the seats*

Fitting a new hood

Left to Right Conversions

Thanks for your time & for any contacts you can suggest - Roger Williams"

Please mail me malcolm.paris@zen.co.uk anything in electronic format or PM me for a postal address if required.  I will then forward to Roger.

Thanks

Malcolm.

A very dissapointing response from TRaction I'd have to say  :(   There has been more information forthcoming from forum users.

Any books of this nature are good news for TR7/8 owners so please dig deep and give me anything you have to help Roger.

If you'd rather speak directly to Roger then just indicate what you have to offer and I'll put him in touch.

Malcolm.
