Engine Colour

Hi,

Would just like to know what colour or colours the engine's were painted. I have a block that is red but not sure what colour the head would have been. Your help will be much appreciated as the Engine is being re-built & I would like to keep the original colours.

They weren't painted by the factory.

Black, but perhaps that's also the 'natural colour' when Alan writes that they were not painted. I had mine rebuild last year. (Just look here). I've choosen a non-gloss paint. Not original, but it's easier to spot oil leaks on a non-gloss painted engine, I think.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe there was a very thin coat of black paint, not glossy,

something like the chassis paint.

Thanks Guy's for the response.

 

Just spoke to Mick Pratt at Moss who confirmed that you could have the engine painted in black, black or black.
