Andy&Karen
Has anyone been to see this car or indeed know of it? I live in Scotland so it would be quite an effort to get down to see it at their place. I have spoken briefly to TRGB already regarding the car and they do appear friendly and helpful. I understand they do have a good reputation. It is crossing my mind at present to buy the car without seeing it (after more dialogue with TRGB) and getting it transported up to Scotland. I do realise that purchasing without seeing it could well have its pitfalls. I would be very grateful for any information/hints/opinions etc. Many thanks Andy Link to TRGB
67_gt6
Hi Andy I'm in Edinburgh so I understand the travel issues, however unless you are desperate to secure one to immediately go foreign touring then you have got until March/April before it is TR weather again up here so I wouldn't rush. The price is low, I would want to know why. There were a couple of 4s in TR Action this month that sounded like they had been nicely rebuilt. If you are anywhere near Edinburgh and are considering a 4A or a 4 you are welcome to come round and have a look at mine and I'll show you the areas to look at. regards Andy Edited November 30, 2007 by 67_gt6
bob-menhennett
Andy As the owner of a late ( 1965) white TR4 can I put in my six penneth. The value guide, as a condition 2 vehicle in Practical Classics Dec 07 is £6,750, £11,250 for condition 1 concours. So price is there or there abouts in my view. TRGB I've used them for bits... new and second hand from their famous loft.. for over ten years and chose them to do the rebuild of my engine, unleading, etc. I've found them honest, straight forward, practical guys who give an honest opinion on any TR problem/ option for upgrading, etc.Good service. If the price was the same for a TRGB vehicle or private sale one, sight unseen, I'd put my money on TRGB every time.A recognised specialist ,they have seen a few TR's in their time and I'd take their word for the description of the vehicle. A personal view..I've no connection financial or otherwise, other than as a satisfied customer of many years. Bob
mart160plus
Hi Andy. Recently bought a 6 from TRGB, dealth with Chris, absolute top man. I went there for two hours and drove 4 TR6s and also the white TR4 you mention. It's a bit tatty in that it will never be a concours car, but it drove and stopped very well, no smoke, good oil pressure. I was almost in love with the shape and very tempted, but frankly as the classic was to be my everyday drive I opted for the TR6 as it would be cheaper to run overall, the panels for TR4s are damn expensive alone. I certainly would have picked the TR4 above some of the TR6s I saw though. For a bit of peace of mind too, the fanbelt on my '6 started to delaminate when I got it home, so TRGB just sent me out a new one which arrived the next day. They're also providing me with a new windscreen when they find a decent one as my current one has polarized a bit, and Chris also gave me some metal clips for my hood for when the plastic ones break and even a few more for my Dad's MG too ! Good service and people you can trust I reckon, if the car was bad they would step up and sort it, most people with old cars are part of the forums and word of mouth speaks volumes, to act any differently would jeopardise their business. Now I'm off to phone Chris for some commission ! Good luck with your purchase. Mart.
