It still appears on a DVLA licencing search with a road tax renewal due at the end of May next year, so it's still out there and in use by the look of it. The 1968 registration date is odd though. Maybe it was reimported although obviously not given a 1968 registration number.

Hi Chris

Your memories of Sheffield registrations ties up well with a comission no of CT 8***. which would indicate it was built about the 2nd quarter of 1962. It's possible the car was written off and re-registered with its original plates in 1968 as I did find evidence of major body and chassis damage during restoration. Or DVLA's dates are just wrong! Waiting to see on that score...

Nick, Ernest. W. Hatfield became Hatfields, they are still in business as Jaguar main dealers, they supplied most of the Triumphs in Sheffield. I remember a neighbour buying a new TR4a IRS from them in late 1966.
