  1. Afternoon, I trust everyone is safe and well! Im at the point of repairing the rear inner body work and wanted to ask if anyone has some good phots of how the joints and panels should be between the inner wing, wheel arch and B posts? I can see that there is fibre glass and rust in mine that will need patching. Looking at the inner wings online they appear to be around £300+ many thanks.
  2. Slowly doing bits and pieces on the rebuild of my 5 and went to fit the fan belt yesterday. I can't fit the belt between the bottom pulley and the steering rack. If I support the sump on a jack and block, loosen gearbox and engine mountings will I be able to shift the block back a couple of millimetres to get sufficient space. ...or am I missing something else.   3. Gentlemen, I have been offered a Lucas DR3A wiper motor for my 4A. However, it is not the 75568A, which is the model number of the motor according to the one presently on my car. Can anyone please tell me if a Lucas DR3A 75607B is a two speed model and if it would be a suitable straight fit replacement for my 4A? I haven't seen the item as it was offered me via the internet.   5. I have a load of original Girling 16P brake calipers that are about to be refurbished by Bigg Red. I have had one pair finished in black to go behind the black wire wheels on my BRG racecar. my plan is to have these plated (not painted) in either the original type gold or silver. There will be new pistons and seals etc. Basically, they will be fully reconditioned and ready to fit. The point of this post is to ask that if anyone is looking for a pair and wants then done in a particular finish, let me know as I will be taking to be done next week. Price depends on finish. Final point is that these are original castings and not the repro ones!! David
  6. I have a TR5 with a Surrey top. Looks great but not very practical in my opinion. Would someone kindly advise me of what I will need to convert my car to a rag top. Is a soft top a direct replacement? Are the existing holes for the Surrey the same. Is the header rail the same? I think not but need confirmation. Where should I go for a frame and hood? From what I have read vinyl is the best material to use? Thanks in advance, Graeme.
  7. Seeking a small diameter hub boss. My TR2 steering column has a splined end that the steering wheel hub fits onto. Do later TR models like TR4, TR5 have the same splined end of the steering column? I need to buy an aftermarket hub boss that fits those splines, in order to fit a restored specialty steering wheel for my Doretti (using same TR2 column). But I don’t want to use the large diameter boss that is available from Moss to fit a Moto-Lita wheel to a sidescreen TR - because I have a smaller wheel center that is more like TR4. Wheel is pictured. So if I buy an aftermarket TR4 hub boss, might the splines fit my TR2 style Doretti column? Dan

  9. Gents, before I find the energy to post it in the Classifieds here is my restored aluminum surrey hardtop surplus to requirement. It's complete with seals; headlining; braces; SS trim; original fixing points/threads and knobs. Painted in Silverstone grey, it will nicely combine with any of the standard TR colors. I concur that £ 900 isn't cheap but rare enough in this condition and a direct fit. Please PM for details and more pictures. Cheers

  11. What are people's thoughts on the oil change intervals for a gearbox with J type overdrive. It was 6 years ago when I last did a change but only 6000 miles since. Should I change due to the time or not bother yet because of the low mileage. Another conundrum for cars that cover low mileages!

  13. Could somebody please confirm that I am not going mad! A couple of weeks ago I took the lever arms off my 5 and marked the n/s unit with a label for future ID and sent them of to a reputable firm for reconditioning and upgrade(15%). I got them back today and tried to fit them. N/S no problem - arm moves from upright, down, clockwise towards the bumpstop. However the O/S moves from upright away from the bumpstop in a clockwise direction - nowhere near the bumpstop! I hope the attached images show this. They are all viewed from the front of the car, O/S first 2 images. Many thanks, Tim

Today (24/2) I was leaving Denia in Spain heading for Alicante airport at about 5:15 pm and saw a nice red TR5PI driving the same route, seemed to be in convoy with an Alfa Spider? if that was you then congrats on a nice car, and maybe we could meet up sometime as i keep Amita in Denia, she’s a yacht not a secret lover.... steve

  17. Folks. I have been constantly hearing regards fake cars. Time to do something simple ie post the suspect cars and let some so called experts help unsuspecting buyers. It will be very easy to create a database on FaceBook. yes I know a lot of people dont like FB but do you like the idea of of people buying cars that are 'Ringer's?' Doesnt that damage our reputations too. Those new owners might just join the register one day. So there we are to start the ball rolling I have started a FB group for this. If you have good knowledge please pop over and either give your expertise, post photos of cars or if you need a hand deciding anyway. Please help other to look after the Marque in this sense too.   18. Just wondered if any of the knowledgeable folk on here know of anyone/reliable company who might be able to nip across the Channel to Holland and collect a TR5 for me? It is a non-runner but would roll onto a trailer/flatbed OK. I am based in the North of Scotland so it is major expedition trying to tie in ferry/tunnel timings with a 1500 mile round trip. If it was on this side of the channel it is a bit easier to come and collect it. Happy to pay the going rate. Thanks Ali Picture for attention, as they say!!

As a life long Michelotti fan and friend of the family I felt it was time to start a FaceBook page dedicated to Michelotti and the 1200 designs of his which became cars as although we love our Triumphs he designed Jaguars and all sorts. Did you know he has 192 Ferrari designs that became cars?     I have just finished removing the underseal from the underside of the floor pans on my 1968 TR5 project and was surprised to see brown paint as in the images. Does this suggest that the panels have been replaced at some time in the past? Many thanks, Tim
  22. Hello guys, do you know if there is a supplier who sell decent plenum corner repair panels, ie left and right extremities of the plenum panel ? I've got a TR5 and a very early (CP 2500*) TR6 who are rusted here, so ready (or nearly ready) to use repair panels could be usefull !
  23. Hi, I’m seriously thinking of converting my TR5 from Weber 40DCOEs to EFI. I know that some of you out there have changed to EFI and have been pleased with the results so I’m hoping to benefit from your experience. I know little about EFI, is there any ‘must-read’ information out there that would get me started. The only thing that I have thought is that I would like to use a spare set of CP throttle bodies that I have as I like their compactness (100mm shorter than the Weber/manifold). I hope these would allow an effective cold-air box system. This is something that has been a problem with the Webers with the restricted space available. No real thoughts about the rest of the system. Hoping for suggestions. As always, look forward to any input. Peter
  24. Hi everyone I understand TR5 radiator cowls were never fitted from new - was there a reason for this as the under bonnet view without one looks very unfinished, in my opinion? Also, I am not aware that these are currently available as an aftermarket addition. A number of local members with TR5s have remarked on the alloy cowl on my TR4, and intimated they would like one - it doesn't look that difficult to modify a TR4 one to fit, but I wonder if there is a pent up demand amongst TR5 ( and TR250 ) members for these and whether it would be worth making them officially, rather than modifying an existing piece of kit . Another one of my hair brained ideas - I wait with baited breath to be shot down but that's exactly why I've posted this, so don't hold back! Cheers Rich
  25. Had problems with the Overdrive that turned out to be the switch. So I replaced it, but this one is nearly as bad in as much as the overdrive will keep dropping out and reengaging. Are they all from the same source or are some better than others? Definitely the switch because if I put pressure on it I can get The overdrive to cycle! Or has anyone managed a good modification?
