  1. I took my TR3a for its MOT today and whilst it passed without any issues, the mechanic pointed out that there was quite a lot of play in the rear hub bearings. They weren't noisy but they had quite a lot of play. It's a while since I touched them but I don't recall it as being a simple job to adjust them. The only way that I can think of doing it will be to remove the half shaft and adjust the shim pack between the brake back plate and the rear axle, which will be a pain as I have to remove the six set screws with their locking tabs etc. Is that correct or is there an easier way?
  2. Dear all I am in a bit of a pickle here and am going in mental circles. I posted some time back that my mechanic said I needed a rear wheel bearing. As I drive, it is evidently clear this is an issue and slowly getting worse, so I put it down as a winter job. It seems now my mechanic whilst a good bloke is not skilled to do this job and I found this out when he said the work would be done using a 3 leg puller and from reading this forum, that is a no-go and you need a special tool that looks like a top hat. since then, I bought a nice Timkin bearing kit and this is now in my shed
  3. As I get into the bowels of my TR, I can see many of the components have reached the end of their serviceable life. Any suggestions how one can go about identifying genuine OE parts manufacturers or quality alternatives. I have avoided repros in my Jags unless i didnt have a choice. They always fail. Ive trawled through the Williams book but specifically looking for info on OE - clutch and brake master cylinders, slave, release bearing, wheel cylinders, front stub axles, wheel bearings Timken?, engine mountings. Sources to explore for NOS would help. Thanks. Sarajit
