  1. Ok, I'll try filling by the interlock switch.

I did clen the filter and magnetic plug before.

Ad 1,5l them top up when problem solved.

Just to complete, the gearbox was repaired and the plug was gorilla thigh.

A hexagonal nut was welded and that broke out

    Thank you for the help

  2. Just a quick update.

Tunnel cover of, crawling under dashboard, trying to undo the squarish filling nut, no way

Is it possible to fill the 2 litres from the the overdrive switch so that I can take the car out where they can fix the issue

  3. Just had the gearbox oil drained and cleaned the filter of the A type overdrive.

Lack of experience, didn't check the filler plug, and when trying to undo...under the car, without elevator, you guessed could not take it out.

Now I have a gearbox and overdrive without oil and cannot drive.

Is the any other way to fill the gearbox? at least get some oil in and get to the nearest garage

thank you wise and experience Trs

  4. Chek the reuturn lever on the MU it must be spot on, or it could be a loose screw on the condenser, or progressive coil failure until,  road side! carry a replecement it's a easy road side replacement.

13 years PI, and still learnig

  5. When I checked the battery I found that she was leaking, the plastic tray had traces of acid ... and the plastic tray was broken...and when fitting the kidneys a nice trace of white powder over the tunel carpet...

This is wy I started with the battery...

As Forrest Gump said, Triumph are like a box of chocolat, you never know what you are gonna get

    Still...

prefer to push a Triumph than to own a MG:)

  6. Just a update

Replaced battery and inconstancy in amp readings prevails.

Next, ty to use Lucas fault diagnosis manual and check charging and voltage regulator.

Next step, on my wish list is replace alternator but Im confused about wich one of the type prposed on Moss catalog, and also if I need a new voltage regulator and connection kit.

See what type of alternator currently on tr

  7. Good evening

I have inconstant readings, most of the times is charging but without apparent reason sometimes is not .

This hapens with lights off or on.

A recent ground connections clean all around, improved the charging always reading +

I suspect the aging battery or the rectifier

Were and how should I look ?

    1971 TR, injection

    thank you

  8. Symptons pointo to coil, had 2 fails last 10 years...,

This time it took me some nights cave dweling to find that I had the low tension wire connection from the coil to distributor internaly  broken, outside and spade connectors in perfect condition.

It was a intermitent failure, a litle greemling was eating the fine copper mesh.

Test the voltage or the ohm resistance of this litle cable while moving it

  9. Sorry to come over, but

I just changed gearbox/ A type overdrive first atemp to find wy overdrive didn't engage after a gearbox support bracket change.

Used a of the shelf equivalent to EP 90, I was told, and issue not solved.

Check all eletrics and still not working as it should, no engagement 2,3 and 4

Order from moss dynolite 80w90 to check if there is any improvement

Nevertheless ,in between, when opening the fill plug, about 100cc came out as a burst, and stopped after a while.

    Is this due to overpressure?

The magnetic drain plug had metal bits, is it too much ? difficult to say .

BB says to click 6 times the overdrive switch to ease out the pressure, does it makes sense?

Next time try to clean the bottom filter, difficult task under a jackup Tr.

Advice of tasks sequence required please

    Thank you

  10. Good evening wise fórum.

Formaly in my 1971 tr6, I could ear petrol coming back from MU INTO the tank , on idle.

For No apparent reason it Started to leak along the return pipe to the tank where ruber replaces cooper, even when circlips were set...

It looks that I have a strong pressurized fuel return.

Try to blow all the way and there is no resistence

Petrol cap os original, makes no diference when open

    Where to look ?

    Thankyou

  11. I just have the same and it works perfectly.

Use it every time I park the tr and take the l shappe key with me.

I did clean it during the process of ground earh contact points challenge, it paid of, no more current drains the batery is charging happily.

    Strongly recomend
