  1. Diff output shafts had new bearings & seals fitted, put them back in the casing, pinion oil seal changed, bearing seemed fine. Diff casing painted, strengthening webs being welded on tomorrow along with mounting pin reinforcements. Thought brake adjusters looked a bit scabby, decided to pop them off for a strip & clean, one mounting nut sheared off on both sides, two new adjusters ordered, no drive for me tomorrow.
  2. I’d actually posted them on here last month: https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/search/&q=“Hardtop instructions” bottom of thread.
  3. Isn't it fairly similar to the Stag item - https://robsport-wb1.robsport.co.uk/index.php/online-shop/product/6745-glove-box-striker-s-h
  4. Because that’s where the clunk sounds to be coming from, will drop it and have a look, the driveshafts are being swapped out anyway and I want to reinforce the diff pins, might as well have a look whilst it’s out.
  5. This is when engaging OD really, I don't notice it at any other time.
  6. Driveshafts & diff are coming out, clean around diff mounting area then weld in strengthening plates. Quick look at diff before probably deciding it needs swapping out due to clunking, already have CV driveshafts to fit. Once that lot's done, swap out thermostat for 88C to improve heating, close garage door & relax.
  7. I have one I could sell, I will send you a PM.

The inlet that Dan has made on mine is the same size, it's just an oval shape as there isn't clearance for the round version against the inner wing. My 15mm trumpets arrived this morning, the one in the pic is 40mm so the blockage will largely be removed.

I received my new airbox today, this one fits with the early car inner wing, I'm changing the trumpets to 15mm ones however as the airflow will be seriously disrupted.
  10. Is the water pipe shape not dictated by the radiator type? Early cars have the bottom hose stub some inches in from the edge, later cars have the stub at the edge, presumably the longer SS pipe is to reach the latter?

I have made a heat shield Waldi, it's changed a bit since the photo as I have a thin rail along the top of the slots, once some longer Throttle body - inlet manifold bolts arrive I will fit the shield to them and secure with nuts, the underside of the shield has an adhesive heatproof material applied. Currently my injection loom is held towards the inner wing by cable ties, since I wrapped the exhaust manifold the temp has reduced considerably in any case.

I have one now Waldi, the problem is it's for a later car with the full cutout inner wing. The chap who made it is going to make me a replacement section that is narrower and will work with my smaller gap, I'm meeting him on Sunday to measure up. Ian

Almost £800 for this and you have to trim it to fit yourself, way too expensive for what it is.

    Brake issues

If you make up a couple of short pipes you can bleed the m/cyl into itself, that would prove whether it is working or not.
  15. Welcome, which ECU are you running? Ian

Yes, they are steep, especially when you buy a set from Racestorations!

Can you amplify on your # points Iain, I assume 1 is the fact that half the firing is wasted, 2 fair enough but why 3?

My TPS is integral to the centre throttle body, it's the one that the throttle cable connects to and I am using NGK BPR6EIX plugs with a VX coil pack. Please let me know how the map works out for you. Ian

Hi Iain, Merry Christmas to you too, I have attached my map. I haven't calculated MPG yet, it certainly seems an improvement on before though. I'd had my gearbox/OD oil changed when the engine was swapped out a year or so ago, it is clear that they didn't bother cleaning the filter though. When we took the filter off it was thick with sludge, I suspect that whatever oil I refilled it with I would have seen an improvement. As you know, ask 3 people for opinions on which oil to use in the OD and you'll get 4 answers, I thought I'd give the SAE40 a try and so far, so good. Ian RR201219.map

I have Harry, I need to measure up, I’m still working though so haven’t got round to it. Dan will be at Bicester so we can discuss what’s needed there.

I’m using the Emerald K6 ECU, this has its own internal ignition drivers so doesn’t require any external form of ignition control.

    Finally painted

That’s +6mm Waldi, perfect. I’m considering changing my wheels, I can’t be bothered with the wires, too much hassle with cleaning!

The car looks great Waldi, what offset are the wheels?
  24. iani

    Broken stub axle?

I drove c.85 miles to Emerald without issue, this happened around 10 miles into the return journey, the sound was like the wheel bearing was loose so I pulled over. I had driven over a few miles of really rough road, I wouldn't have noticed the issue on those roads I suspect.
