In light of johns BT problems I’d thought I’d share this scam caller number that I received today - it was  a BT internet scan call

I like to keep these people chatting ( on the basis that if they are talking to me they are not talking to someone “even more” vulnerable than me) before letting them know that my internet is provided via my employer - Greater Manchester Police

they then seem to disappear - how rude.

God . . .there are times when I hate the advance of technology, I mean, really hate it

Me too, especially when attempting to make an appointment at the GP having phoned at 8.32 to find you are in a queue number 21 and finally having stayed on the phone, told there are no appointments available use our app and then read after 10 of pointless questions and numerous tick boxes none relating to you, we hope to reply without 4 days Or when you phone your bank, have you tried our app, following there is likely be a delay of 40 minutes.

Still if we didn’t hate that we’d have to find something else, it’s an age thing I’m told. We’re the grumps.

  3. Very true Hamish, times have changed, I too spent many years visiting my grand parents in Dartmouth, camped on the fields approaching Man Sands even driven down the stony track to the beach.

I have travelled the river Dart on a ferry, in my dell quay dory many times. Sailed out from Philips yard on a friends 30ft yacht, travelled down the spectacular coast line visiting the beaches the little  coves in both, crossed over the Dart in both the higher and lower ferries and yet although times have changed, I still can’t get over the spectacular, breathtaking scenery this area offers, which I just love.

  4. Since posting it reminded me how much I loved Cornwall. As a youngster I spent many enjoyable days  in Cornwall, even spent the first day of our Honeymoon there, its amazing beaches, Flambards theme park, St Ives, Looe and Polperro especially Polperro as a child visits to the mini museums, where I could read about the smugglers and see the ingenious way they smuggled the contraband, how they avoided taxes and the authorities. Using lights to encourage ships  to come aground and plunder, if what I’ve heard  is true.  Conjuring up images in the mind. The Cornish people had masses of initiative. Perhaps one of there biggest initiatives was to take the Devon Tavistock Monks invention the Pasty tweet it then brand and market it as the Cornish pasty calling it their own. Much the same with the Devon cream tea just by turning the ingredient up side down. Not to  forget Merlin’s cave and King Arthur his nights and the round table apparently residing in Cornwall. Cleaver people the Cornish, it seems you can’t help but love and repeatedly visit them and their county. :)

I trust you got "time off" for good behaviour? or did you dig a tunnel out excavated over 6 months accessed by exiting through the cell wall and hidden behind a wall poster of the TR Register International weekend?

Good behaviour!  me no I dressed up as a tourist and just walked out. Although your way I’m guessing would have been far much more exciting, providing it avoided the last 100yrds in a pipe.

  6. If anyone is still interested in this, I had the yellow night classes before my ret detachment and cataract operations, they impared my vision further, when updating my prescription classes they suggested clear anti glare, that worked well for me. Now I don’t need prescription  glasses I had plan glass replaced with the same anti glare, they work and the whole world isn’t yellow.
