  1. I am renovating a Texas TR4 1965 model, fitted inner / Outer sills new floors etc. Being unable to get out for parts to complete the body, I have started to strip the engine to see whats needed. The bearings are standard, crank looks as though only a polish is needed, pistons are lightly scored but I hope would polish out, and just new rings required. Bores have no top "lip" and again I hope just a "hone" would enable them to be used again. There is no coppering to any bearing. Head would need "Unleading of course. see Pics and I would appreciate your opinion.

  3. I read this morning that the Covid 19 had marginally reduced the daily infection rate. Thats worrying, in that the Oiks that haven't taken the threat seriously will return to the streets and begin to infect with Gusto. No I don't know the answer either.
  4. Just as a small edition to Rogers post, I fitted a new top dashed to my last TR (Black one) and the fir between the pad and the steel dash was poor. To make it much neater I fitted a piece of Alloy about an inch wide, and above that a piece of black vinyl wrapped around a quarter inch diameter plastic tube, to fill and hide the poor dash fit. The finished article was much neater. Just an idea but also if anyone has a RHD left side grab handle for renovation please get in touch so I can copy Rogers suggestions.

  6. I am renovating a 1965 TR4, brought over from Texas last winter. Some of the repairs are hard to believe............. The damage to the bottom of the steering column, was caused by the Tacho cable somehow becoming entangled around the column???? and thats just one of many........
  7. I was thinking of 1, not cooking the Alternator under the Exhaust manifold, and 2 ease of access, small alternators I doubt would get in the way of the distributor pedestal . I was interested if anyone had done such a modification, but I don't have the CD Ian.
  8. Has anyone fitted an alternator to the Left hand side of the engine? Just a thought.

Hello Stuart, shell is OFF the chassis, made a brace to hold the shell apart whilst I fitted the floor section, I didn't know the shell would flex as much as it has, but I have now solved the problem and a trial fit looks very good, thank you for your pic it certainly helped. see new pic, quite a bit to do before I weld it in place but looking much better now.
  10. I hadn't removed the old sill for I wanted to weld in the floor section whilst it was "intact " so to speak. I am to remove it today. I was trial fitting the inner sill only, but I suspect the new inner sill is a bit taller than the original one

Ian thats the question, the inner sill originally fitted below the A post lip, and on top of the floor section. but the new one will rest nicely on the floor and is correct at the front and rear panels, but won't fit under the A post lip. Only over it. It cannot fit below the floor for the floor section does extend 5 or so inches to attach to the outer sill.
  12. The inner sill fits perfectly at the front and rear panels, but goes over the "A" post lip and not beneath it as the original sill did, Where have I gone wrong?????

  14. Have welded in one side of a new floor section (TR4). The new inner sill mates perfectly with the front and rear panels, but is on top of the "A" post bottom lip (with 8 holes) and not BELOW the lip as per the original sill, see pic where have I gone wrong???????????

  16. Hello Wayne can you explain why the posts on the actions of Lambkin Smith have been closed. You say that you have done this that and the other but a full explanation would be appreciated, this Gentleman has been proved to be not so. Exactly what are the BOD doing? And again why stop the posts?
  17. having been away from the register for some time now, its with some regret, for I would have learnt about the bloke and not parted with my hard earned. Apologies for stirring up a problem that has seen the light of day previously, I wasn't aware of it. ************ TR bits are sorting my pedal box problem, but thank you for the heads up. The red tomato is looking for a younger owner, It could be you.

Bought some parts from this individual, paid by paypal, part was a pedal box for a TR4 he sent me one from a TR6, I returned it on the promise that he would send me one for a TR4 from his several container loads of spares. That was weeks ago, he did send me a mail saying he had forgotten about it and would send it to me next day, again weeks ago. Since then (more weeks ago) no replies to my mails to him. I have been had, a hundred out of pocket, just passing on a personal experience.
